Our Cars – AK Rods and Customs

-1933 Plymouth Coupe, chopped 2.5", channeled 4", custom made rear fenders, rumble seat and floors, it sits on a 35 Chevy Frame, with custom front horns and a custom 34 Grill Cut down to fit

-The restoration was completed in 1996 and has been driven yearly since.

-The engine was built by Golen Engine Service: custom forged pistons, custom cam, roller drivetrain, TBS 6.71 Billet Blower, Demon 750 Supercharger Carbs, 600hp on the dyno, without the 150hp+ shot of nitrous

-The engine is a Turbo 400 built with a reverse manual valve body

-Rear end is a '67 Pontiac 8.5" 10 Bolt rear with 3.55 gears and posi

-Wheels are Convo Pro Fuel 15x6 front 15x14 rear, tires are M/T Sportsman pro 33x18x15

-Interior was done by J&S Upholstery of Manchester NH

-Recent paint job was done at AK, airbrushing done by Thin Air Graphx, all paint is PPG based and covered in DCU2021 Concept Clear

-She has won many awards: Best Paint, Best Engine Bay, Best Custom Rod, Best of Show at several events, rangin from Local Cruise nights to larger local events like Frank Maratta, or the Boston Super Wheels Show down to national Events like NSRA nationals in Burlington and ISCA World of Wheels of Boston.

-1947 Ford F-1, owned by Todd Berkowitz of Bedford NH, was delivered to AK Rods & Customs 100% stock and original.
-After a 16 month build and a one-of-a-kind vision, the only original parts that remain on the truck are its cab, doors and hood. The front fenders were sectioned and modified along with the front end and handmade stainless grill.
-The running boards and bed were all formed from flat sheet metal.
-The iconic AK paint scheme is a custom PPG based Kandy Red top, over Vivid Black and all buried in Concept Clear.
-The truck is powered by a GM EROD LS3 with 530hp backed by a 4L75E transmission which sends that power down to a Ford 9” posi-rear with 3.70 gears and a triangulated 4-link holding it in place.
-The Mustang II suspension hugs the road while 4 wheel disc brakes slow her down.
-The fenderwell headers are custom one off’s along with the rest of the 2.5” stainless exhaust and custom tips gives her a nice rumble and sounds great going down the road.
-The interior was built by J&S Upholstery of Manchester as well
